Legal.io is working with a prominent company to find a hybrid workplace investigations professional for a 6-month contract, with the option to extend.

The candidate must be located in the greater Chicago area and available to work from the office 3 days/week.

Job Responsibilities:

We're looking for candidates with at least 3-5 years of investigative experience, including experience conducting effective workplace harassment & discrimination investigations involving in-person on-site interviews of employees and vendors throughout all functional areas.

This investigator will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Manages prompt, thorough, and objective workplace investigations of complaints involving allegations of harassment and discrimination, and other policy violations, as assigned by the Senior Manager, Harassment & Discrimination Investigations
  • Prepares timely detailed written investigative reports for review by an investigations manager prior to being distributed to the Senior Manager of Harassment & Discrimination Investigations, Legal Counsel, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and other senior leaders
  • Identifies, collects, analyzes and preserves documentary and physical evidence related to the matters being investigated
  • Provides findings to the Senior Manager of Harassment & Discrimination Investigations, Legal Counsel, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and other senior leaders based on the investigative fact-finding and analysis of those facts
  • Extensive experience conducting effective workplace investigations involving in-person or virtual interviews of employees and vendors throughout all functional areas
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Strong analytical, fact-finding and evidence gathering skills
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain credibility within all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive, employment-related information
  • Ability to be flexible and exercise a sense of urgency in handling multiple cases, effectively planning, organizing and prioritizing cases
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (Criminal Justice/Criminology, in Human Resources or other related fields) or equivalent work experience in a corporate setting investigating policy violations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and GSuite
  • Experience working at a large, multi-national corporation
  • SHRM-SCP certified

Role Details:

  • Anticipated Start Date: May 2023
  • Schedule: 6 months, 40 hours/week
  • Benefits: Medical, vision, and dental insurance (premiums paid by employer); 401k
  • Pay Rate: $40/hr - $50/hr ($80k - $100k annualized)
  • Location: Hybrid - 60/40 onsite in Chicago, IL and Remote
