SUMMARY: This position supports Tyson’s in-house litigation and other members of the legal team in working up cases though all phases of litigation and in providing other legal support.  The candidate must have knowledge of general legal and business concepts, practices and procedures and be able to apply this knowledge in the form of legal support and analysis. This position works under the general supervision of in-house attorneys, and applicants must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal business managers, government officials, and outside lawyers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Requires one of the following:

  • Paralegal degree from an ABA-certified degree program;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and completion of a paralegal certificate program within 1 year of entry to position; 
  • Exam-based certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants NALA or from National Certification of Paralegal Associations NFPA; or
  • A combination of education and experience (experience described below). 

 

Experience: 5+ years of verifiable paralegal experience, including at least a portion of this time working in litigation. 

 

Computer Skills: Requires electronic research skills and advanced word processing skills, including experience in Word, and intermediate computer skills that may include utilizing advanced functions in spreadsheets and legal department management databases.  Experience with eDiscovery is a plus. 

 

Special Skills: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required. A talent for project management is a plus, as well as a passion for helping people, problem solving, and teamwork.

 

Supervisory: No direct reports.

 

Travel: Some limited travel may be required, but not anticipated to be more than 1-5 trips per year.

 

This is a Management Non-Exempt position which means that it is a management position that is paid hourly.

This position does not offer reimbursement for interview expenses and/or relocation assistance. Priority consideration will be provided to area applicants that reside within a 50-mile radius of the posted location first.
