ROLE SUMMARY

This role will be responsible for managing government litigation and investigations for Pfizer Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates in the United States and abroad, and will report to the Government Litigation Lead.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage complex government litigation and investigation matters in the U.S. and around the world, including cases arising under the False Claims Act; Anti-Kickback Statute; Securities Exchange Act; Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act; antitrust statutes; and ex-US anti-corruption statutes. 

  • Oversee interactions with regulators, including the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, State Attorneys General Offices, and ex-US civil and criminal enforcement agencies.

  • Develop and execute successful strategies to mitigate government litigation and enforcement risk.

  • Prepare strong trial teams, enhancing the probability of favorable trial outcomes.

  • Cultivate a robust understanding of our products and our business; understand the company's business imperatives and manage risk to support those imperatives. 

  • Provide proactive advice and counseling to business colleagues and other key stakeholders to mitigate enforcement risk and protect Pfizer.

  • Stay current with external environment and use that knowledge to inform risk mitigation strategies.

  • Actively manage the performance, deliverables, and budget for outside counsel, experts, and other third-party providers.

  • Work with the Government Litigation Lead to help ensure compliance with disclosure and reserving obligations, as well as internal reporting obligations.

  • Partner with media relations and investor relations teams to prepare for and respond to any inquiries concerning government litigation or enforcement matters.

  • Support and contribute to Pfizer Legal Division projects and initiatives.

 

Must Have:

  • J.D. degree with a strong academic background

  • 7+ years of experience practicing law in a law firm, in-house, or government position

  • Licensed to practice in New York and in good standing

  • Works well independently and as part of a team to resolve complex matters

  • Track record of exceptional leadership and judgment  

  • Strong ability to communicate issues clearly and succinctly

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills

  • Ability to foster a positive working environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively, navigate a highly matrixed environment, and drive consensus within cross-functional teams

  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion it the workplace

  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. and on occasion internationally, as needed.

Nice To Have:

  • Trial experience

  • Experience as a government prosecutor (civil or criminal) a plus

  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare experience

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to travel within the U.S. and on occasion internationally, up to 15% as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $168,300.00 to $280,400.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Pfizer compensation structures and benefit packages are aligned locally, the US Salary range provided does not apply to the Tampa, FL or any EXUS locations.

Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
