RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains the “Sales and Underwriting Compliance Message” written summary for Regulatory Instructions. Creation of a Sales Message involves performing an analysis of the law’s impact by product and claim platform (Facets, Proclaim, Power).
  • The Regulatory Automation Team divides its responsibilities by subject. The primary topics for this position include Non-Participating Provider and Emergency/Urgent Care.
  • Develops on-screen tool manual directions for users of the “Benefit Sculpting Tool/Plan Portal” to comply.
  • Creates and/or co-owns “user stories” for IT automation of the compliance benefit mandates, working with the business teams and other experts within Legal. Participates in testing the automation and approving new requirements for each release.
  • Primary contact monitoring the “Regulatory and State Government Affairs” mailbox which includes becoming a broad expert on who does what at Cigna.
  • Develop and implement a formal intake process for Regulatory project requests.
  • Monitor and respond to all project intake requests.
  • Triage project requests and make recommendations to management on which projects should be accepted, and when possible, identify alternative tools or resources for the project requestor.
  • Provide overflow regulatory instruction support, as needed when team is at capacity.
  • Act as the primary Regulatory contact for all active projects while fostering relationship with stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of project requests and identify and organize applicable resources.
  • Formulate initial responses to project requests when possible, conferring with Regulatory team as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain project plans that consider the project objectives, timelines, resource impacts and task sequencing required for successful completion of project.
  • Lead project planning meetings with the Regulatory team and provide them with clear direction and status of the project and coordinate and collaborate as necessary to ensure all parties understand the project request and are on track to meet deadlines.
  • Develop framework and template to consistently capture project input needed from Regulatory team.
  • Support Regulatory team as necessary to identify and track down resources needed to complete project request.
  • Monitor progress against project goals and objectives and communicate and manage any issues that may impede timely delivery of project results.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify successful project elements and approaches as well as those in need of improvement.
  • Create and maintain a repository for completed projects which may be accessed for future requests.
  • Manage cleanup/creation of Common Bulletins (documents comprised of 50 state reviews of laws/regulations that are used by all Cigna employees).

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience with payment of non-participating providers within the context of the health insurance industry preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in health insurance/health services industry with a background in legal or compliance. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience leading highly visible projects and meeting deadlines, Project Management skills is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly and perform under fast-paced, high stress situations
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and data management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and matrix partners
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Proficient with MS office required and experience with Lexis preferred.

 

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 87,300 - 145,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
