Corteva Agriscience is hiring a Senior Counsel – Labor & Employment reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Litigation and Specialties. This position will be responsible for providing legal and strategic advice and counsel to internal clients and legal colleagues on a range of employment and other issues.

General Responsibilities – How Will You Help Us Grow?

  • Provide legal and strategic advice and counsel to internal clients and legal colleagues on a range of global employment issues including:
    • Discrimination and harassment prevention
    • Compensation and benefits
    • Wage and hour
    • Accommodations and leaves of absence
    • Investigations and ethics
    • Recruiting and hiring
    • Discipline and termination
    • Due diligence and integration in M&A transactions
    • Immigration
    • Restrictive covenants
    • Restructuring programs
    • Executive compensation
    • And other related issues
  • Advise on company policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and educate clients through regular communications, trainings, and other appropriate methods.
  • Handle charges, legal demand letters and other employment-related disputes independently.
  • Support Corteva’s commitment to building and maintaining a diverse workforce in an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Participate in and influence decision-making processes with clients and stakeholders.
  • Anticipate, communicate and propose mitigation strategies for potential risks.
  • Lead, anticipate, and drive solutions partnering with business and functional clients and other stakeholders on a broad range of complex and strategic issues.
  • Become a trusted and collaborative partner to the global Human Resources function.

Qualifications

 

What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in a state and be in good standing with no disciplinary record.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Labor & Employment experience.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Ability to quickly adapt in fast changing environment.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. (state and federal) and Canadian (provincial and federal) employment law and sufficient familiarity with global employment law to provide oversight.
  • Excellent judgment in assessing and communicating legal risks while also understanding and working collaboratively within the business strategy.
  • The ability to work independently and without dedicated administrative or paralegal support and limited outside counsel support.
  • Very strong people skills, positive attitude and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex legal issues verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner to all levels of the organization.
