To oversee, manage and direct Navy Federal’s Legal Operations Branch within the Office of the General Counsel. Responsible for the financial, operational, technical, and operational risk functions of the legal operations branch, including development and execution of technology and document management strategies, management of internal resources and external counsel and the strategic development and implementation of key performance metrics. Integral in driving process optimization and technology innovation within Legal Operations. Direct report to the Principal Deputy General Counsel.
• Provide oversight and management for Navy Federal’s Legal Operations Branch, including the development and management of a holistic view of the expectations and execution of compliant legal operations
• Manage teams responsible for subpoenas, collection and review of documents for production, and garnishments
• Lead organizational planning initiatives in support of operational integration and strategic development of the Legal Operations Branch
• Ensure effective budget management, planning and tracking, expense analysis, as well as approval and accruals
• Responsible for technology systems, metrics, and reporting related to matter management, document management, and jurisdictional legal compliance
• Develop analytics and AI capabailities, technology strategy and roadmap in collaboration with department leadership
• Enable oversight and governance over branch efforts to operate in alignment with its risk appetite and manage in a manner consistent with the corporate risk framework by identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring, controlling, and reporting the risk
• Drive operational change and learning by embracing new, flexible, and agile approaches to improve business performance and efficiency
• Determine and review gaps in operations performance, establish performance metrics, and ensure appropriate improvements are initiated and managed
• Ensure change management initiatives driven by senior leadership are appropriately prioritized, addressed, and completed
• Oversee all aspects of vendor management including, but not limited to, cyber/information assurance, rate negotiations/invoice review and processing, annual law firm portfolio reviews, and third party data share requirements. Third party management includes law firms and legal vendors.
• Review effectiveness of operational processes, analyzes trends, and report on opportunities for improved efficiencies, technologies, and expansion of company growth
• Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities:
o Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
o Work with staff to establish business process deinitions and common metrics to measure the effectiveness of the organization.
o Establish performance goals with optimal workflow and priorities
o Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
o Develop, mentor and counsel staff
o Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
o Ensure section/business unit goals and objectives align with division/branch strategy
o Ensure efficiency of operations
• Experience presenting findings, conclusions, and documentation to executive management, regulatory authorities, and legal/judicial court systems in a clear and concise manner
• Experience developing and providing mentoring opportunities to create a highly skilled enterprise legal operations staff
• Experience in strategic planning and/or budgeting processes
• Significant experience in leading, planning, organizing, and directing a corporate level business operation
• Extensive experience with change management processes that demonstrate skills in producing results and achieving objectives consistent with the strategic objectives of an organization
• Extensive experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
• Extensive experience in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and implementing new strategies and procedures
• Extensive experience in supervising and leading employees
• Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
• Knowledge of workforce management and/or resource planning
• Significant experience working with multiple sources in multiple formats and using visualization tools to effectively summarize, communicate and present findings highlighting key areas of focus •Highly effective interpersonal, verbal, negotiation, and written communication skills
• Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Advanced leadership, delegation, coaching, and mentoring skills and the ability to make sound long and short term business decisions

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or the equivalent combinations of education, training or experience.
