An Oregon-based capital equipment company is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its team. This attorney must have superior drafting and negotiating skills, experience with general business transactions (sales agreements, vendor contracts, etc.), and be comfortable working independently across numerous matters. This role will be working closely with the internal sales team and reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. Come join a hardworking, collegial, lean legal team!
Responsibilities:
- Handle a range of general business transactions, including sales agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, operating agreements, etc.
- Provide guidance and problem solving on a full range of legal issues, including sales and partner contracts, vendor management, insurance, risk management, employment, governance, financings, regulatory compliance, and other general corporate matters.
- Risk management, including insurance coverage and renewals, and working knowledge of captive insurance programs.
- Collaborate and successfully work with internal teams, such as the sales team, to move business goals forward.
Qualifications
- JD from accredited US law school
- Currently licensed in Oregon and in good standing (or able to waive in promptly)
- 3+ years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house
- Significant experience reviewing and negotiating varying business agreements such as sales agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, etc.
- Superior drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to anticipate and resolve legal issues as they arise
- Ability to work independently, and responsiveness and attention to detail is a must
- A pragmatic, creative, problem-solving approach to all matters
- The ability to work well with internal teams, external collaborators, and opposing parties with varying levels of sophistication
- Excellent verbal, analytical, and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize appropriately and manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
- Must have the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business results
- Customer service oriented, with a strong sense of humor, unquestioned ethics, and the highest level of integrity
- Experience working in a demanding, high paced, high-volume transaction environment
- Must enjoy being continually challenged under tight deadlines while demonstrating sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
Compensation Range & Benefits
- $180,000 - $200,000
