Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated attorney to join our physician services company. This position will play a critical role in providing legal guidance, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance across all aspects of our business operations. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in healthcare law, contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Counsel and Advice:
- Provide expert legal guidance and advice to company leadership on a wide range of legal matters, particularly related to healthcare regulations, physician services, and corporate activities.
- Interpret and apply federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure the company's operations remain compliant.
- Advise on legal implications of business strategies, initiatives, and operational decisions.
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including hospital and physician contracts, vendor agreements, partnerships, and other business-related documents.
- Ensure contracts align with company policies and legal requirements, protecting the company's interests while maintaining a collaborative approach.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards, and proactively recommend adjustments to policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and training to educate employees on legal and regulatory obligations.
- Litigation Management:
- Manage any legal disputes, claims, or litigation that may arise, working closely with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Develop strategies to resolve legal issues efficiently and minimize potential liabilities.
- Corporate Governance:
- Ensure proper corporate governance practices are maintained, including preparing and organizing board meetings, drafting resolutions, and maintaining corporate records.
- Assist in strategic decision-making, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions from a legal standpoint.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential legal risks and vulnerabilities within the organization and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide guidance on risk management practices to various departments, promoting a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
- Training and Education:
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees about legal matters, compliance, and ethical standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including executive leadership, operations, finance, and human resources, to ensure legal alignment with business goals.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a focus on healthcare law, regulatory compliance, and contracts.
- Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently without legal support staff.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
