Job Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business leaders, including the C-Suite, in overseeing all litigation strategies for this multi-billion dollar business. Depending on performance and desire, this position could potentially expand into involvement in various international matters and transactions.
- Provide advice and guidance to the company on employment, labor and benefits law issues, and general litigation, while ensuring consistency with the company's strategic and business objectives. Work closely with human resources to align and support HR's efforts to create and maintain an engaged workforce.
- Work with human resource professionals to ensure appreciation of employment law risks and take preventative action to head off potential problems.
- Responsible for the management and oversight of outside counsel in the defense of employment litigation and general litigation.
- From time to time represent the company as advocate in administrative agency proceedings before agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, OSHA, and government/OFCCP.
- Assist with enterprise-wide projects that reduce employment law risk for the organization.
Qualifications:
- The applicant should have at least two years of courthouse experience, preferably including some employment law matters.
- The successful candidate must have a proven track record of accomplishment as a lawyer with strong technical legal expertise and who, when required, can also roll up his or her sleeves and focus on the details of a matter as an individual contributor.
- Ability to think analytically and creatively and to problem solve, with a focus on current, innovative, and proactive approaches to employment law and general litigation
- Creative and thoughtful in his/her legal analysis and practices • Values diversity of thought, approach, and experience
- Has a strong business orientation and acumen
- Blends functional knowledge in employment law and litigation with an ability to focus on what is "right for the business”
- Takes a proactive approach to implementing change
- Models high integrity with impeccable ethics • Possesses strong written and verbal communications skills coupled with a belief in the importance of face-to-face discussions with employees and peers
- Excellent listener
- Strong work ethic and able to work well under pressure
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Willingness to work primarily in-office (1 day per week remote)
- The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and a positive demeanor.
