We are looking to hire an Associate General Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team in Stamford reporting to the PartnerRe General Counsel Bermuda / Investments.

In this business-facing role, you will be supporting the General Counsel Bermuda / Investments for all Legal and Compliance issues arising from the PartnerRe Group’s property & casualty and life (re)insurance companies in Bermuda as well as advising and supporting our internal Investment Manager in all Legal & Compliance aspects. In addition, your work will include advising and partnering with the business on matters impacting the entire PartnerRe Group, such as ESG/Sustainability, Cybersecurity, and other cross-jurisdictional regulation in conjunction with other PartnerRe attorneys and executives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide transactional, commercial, corporate, investment & regulatory legal and compliance advice to PartnerRe business units and executive management.
- Manage all corporate and governance aspects for all PartnerRe legal entities in Bermuda and Investments entities (e.g., monitoring external investment managers, Form 20-F SEC reporting, etc.).
- In conjunction with the General Counsel, direct significant projects with internal business clients and outside counsel.
- Manage external counsel budgets in a pro-active and cost-effective way with a constant focus on improving the services and value PartnerRe purchases from external advisers.
- Provide legal advice on matters related to Bermuda employees including employee benefits, real estate leases and antitrust.
- Manage regulatory projects and strategic initiatives / transactions from a legal perspective (e.g., capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, etc.).
- Identify, manage and mitigate legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
- Assist the underwriting units as well as support functions on cross-jurisdictional initiatives.

About you:
- We are looking for a technically strong candidate, who enjoys collaborating with internal and external partners, and seeks a challenging role in a fast-paced environment. As an ideal candidate you will possess the following experience, skills and mindset:
- Admitted to the practice of law in Connecticut or able to qualify as Connecticut Authorized House Counsel.
- 10 years’ experience as a practicing attorney including 5 years of law firm experience and 5 years’ experience in the corporate legal department of a (re)insurance company or broker.
- Prior experience with property and casualty, life or health (re)insurance products and corporate / investment law experience.
- Strong (re)insurance regulatory experience and exposure with U.S. and/or foreign insurance regulators and insurance regulatory issues.
- Prior experience with cybersecurity and/or ESG/Sustainability regulation impacting the (re)insurance industry, preferred.
- Ability to provide clear and timely assessment of legal and compliance issues under tight deadlines giving client-focused and solution oriented legal advice, while retaining independence as legal adviser.
- Fluent in English, other languages, ideally French, are an asset.
- Self-starter with effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with senior executives, within a team, and to build strong relationships with colleagues.
