Job Description

The Americas Regulatory Enforcement and Investigations team is seeking an attorney with 5 to 7 years’ experience to represent BNY Mellon in internal investigations and in a broad range of inquiries and regulatory enforcement, matters originated by various regulatory, government, and law enforcement agencies. In this role, the attorney will be required to handle governmental and regulatory inquiries directly, conduct internal investigations, provide advice regarding, and develop strategies for dealing with, matters that involve potential reputational, regulatory, or financial exposure to the company. The attorney will also be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential legal and regulatory risks. The attorney will handle matters directly and, where appropriate, direct and manage outside counsel.

To be eligible for this position, you must be a licensed attorney admitted to practice in New York State; a minimum of 5 years’ experience handling regulatory enforcement matters is required. In light of the global nature of BNY Mellon’s business, and the increasingly global scope of regulatory enforcement, demonstrated experience and comfort in cross-border investigations and enforcement is preferred. The successful candidate will have strong written and oral presentation skills as well as the confidence and desire to proactively work on a myriad of diverse matters (often at the same time).

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and $234,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
