Legal Counsel, Trade Compliance

Role Context

As a Legal Counsel at Worley, you will form part of the Global Compliance Team and play a pivotal role in understanding various sanctions’ regimes and applicable laws to ensure Worley is compliant in the work that we do. Based in the UK you’ll initially support UK activities with a view to expanding into multiple countries going forward. This is a fully remote working role; however we can discuss attendance at one of our main UK offices if this is preferred.

You'll Be

  • Carrying out and reviewing sanctions related due diligence
  • Managing export control review requests
  • Determining whether opportunities have a sanctions/export risk, analyse the risk and present to Senior Management for approval
  • Assisting the business in identifying possible mitigative steps and assisting the due diligence team on reviews
  • Spread awareness about the concept and Worley standards amongst Worley employees
  • Keep up to date on sanctions provisions from US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, UN & Singapore

You'll Have

  • An LLB or LLM Degree plus experience of trade compliance and sanctions of US, UK, EU, UN, Canada, Australia and Singapore
  • The ability to make difficult decisions and lead/manage others in changing business conditions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups
  • A pro-active and goal-oriented approach to working who displays integrity and consistently honours commitments
  • An ability to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity
