Paralegal (Temporary Contract)

CHANEL is looking for a Paralegal who will support the Legal & Regulatory Department that is responsible for the legal affairs of the LATAM region and the travel retail market of the Americas and the Caribbean. You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day administrative and legal functions in the different areas of practice handled by the department.

The ideal candidate should have the following experience and characteristics:

• Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and, preferably, working knowledge of French or Portuguese

• 2+ years or equivalent experience working in a legal setting, either in a law firm or multinational company, handling corporate, commercial, data privacy or regulatory matters (preferred)
• At least graduated from a Bachelor Degree in Law
• Familiarity with Latin American regulations would be ideal
• Be a team player, have a can-do attitude and a problem-solving mindset
• Be capable of prioritizing under pressure, have great project management skills, have excellent attention to details
• Be tech-savvy, have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), and be keen to learn the use of new tools

Key Responsibilities:

Data Privacy & Brand Protection

• Support in expert reports
• Support with investigations regarding internet, platforms and standalone sites (anti counterfeit/anti diversion cases)
• Support in investigating changes in data protection legislation regionally and update relevant charts as requested.
• Assist with presentations related to Privacy matters.
• Support with the audit of CRM Customer cards and destruction before public notary.

Commercial & Corporate

• Assist with drafting legal documents such as, but not limited to: Power of Attorney, NDAs, Letters of Agreements, Termination Letters and Reference Letters, using existing templates.
• Daily review of the Official Gazette publications for relevant laws applicable to the business
• Conduct legal research and analysis on various topics, including commercial, consumer, privacy, employment and regulatory.
• Develop new automated templates in Spanish and English
• Ensure renovation and updates of Licenses for business’ operation in Panama in a timely manner
• Investigate, coordinate, and prepare documentation for administrative procedures before government authorities such as, but not limited to: Paz y Salvos, Notarization and Apostille of documents and Corporate Extract Certificates

REGULATORY

• Perform investigations and analysis of regulatory information.
• Ensure timely annual renovation of warehouse license
• Track of regulatory authorities, legal systems, and law enforcements databases.
• Creation of official reports and comparative charts at the request of the Global Regulatory Team of draft or approved laws related to cosmetics.
• Keep the summary excel files of LATAM regulations updated in the shared legal + regulatory OneDrive.
• Annual preparation of summary of electoral changes in the LATAM region.
• Review of Bills and Public Consultations submitted for consideration by Chambers of Commerce
