The Senior Compliance Paralegal is an integral part of the legal team, assisting the Integrity and Compliance Team (I&C) across the entire organization. This individual will be engaged with managing all aspects of compliance-related duties including (but not limited to) ethics investigations, compliance training and communications, integration management, risk assessments, policy updates, as well as various administrative duties. As needed, the I&C Senior Compliance Paralegal will from time-to-time support other projects for the legal team. The ideal candidate will be experienced, highly organized and motivated, and be able to work well both as part of a team and independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide paralegal assistance to the Senior Associate General Counsel and other I&C team members, as directed.
- Participate in the development of the I&C annual plan
- Assist with updating and maintaining Adtalem’s Code of Conduct
- Assist with compliance risk assessments
- Assist with managing compliance and ethics policy updates
- Assist with managing all aspects of the IC training and learning program
- Assist with integrated I&C communications plan
- Update and manage Adtalem's “Speak Up” program and related employee-facing policies and protocols
- Manage and assist with hosting bi-monthly Steering Committee meetings with cross-functional stakeholders
- Conduct fact investigations
-Support VP in developing presentations for Board of Directors and Executive Management
- Manage specific I&C projects and programs as needed
- Manages I&C’s vendors to ensure proper service and accountability
- Create, set up, and manage new matters in Adtalem systems
- Manage and maintain I&C document management and shared files platforms
- Invoice management and billing, including onboarding vendors and troubleshooting invoicing and billing issues.
- Compliance training status reporting
- Legal spend analysis and reporting
- Mail and file correspondence and documents, as necessary
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in college and university law and in other related areas
- Provide support to shared email boxes and responding to questions regarding scheduled compliance training
-Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below, are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. - Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of paralegal experience in a compliance law capacity, including at least three years in an in-house legal department.
- Experience working in cross functional groups.
- Well organized and efficient, and able to prioritize, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a short time frame.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility and willingness to pitch in on unexpected projects.
- High degree of self-direction and motivation with good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Administrative expertise with legal management systems (hQue, Compliance Suite, Counsel Link).
- Local candidates are preferred, but we are open to hiring remote candidates based on experience

Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $59923.09 and $108334.92. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
