JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Director, Business & Legal Affairs at Fox Entertainment, primarily handling business & legal affairs matters in connection with domestic and international distribution of FOX television content on all platforms, as well as other business & legal affairs matters, including but not limited to marketing, promotions, and acquisitions.  The Director, Business & Legal Affairs will report to the Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs.

 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate and work with the Sales & Distribution, Marketing, and Publicity teams
  • Draft and negotiate domestic and international distribution agreements for multi-platforms, including but not limited to linear and non-linear exploitation (e.g., Network, Fast channels, AVOD, SVOD, etc.)
  • Draft and negotiate acquisition agreements for the FOX television network and on-demand platforms
  • Research, analyze, and review program rights for sales purposes, including contract and Rightsline database review
  • Draft, review and negotiate all types of marketing and promotion agreements, vendor service agreements, event agreements, brand integration agreements, agreements involving digital ad campaigns, and consultant agreements
  • Advise the marketing and publicity departments in connection with intellectual property rights and rights of publicity issues; talent/crew contractual restrictions/obligations; guild requirements; promotional usage rights and restrictions; third party rights clearances and music issues
  • Handle other general corporate legal matters that arise from time-to-time
     

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Juris Doctor
  • 4+ years of attorney experience 
  • Self-motivated, and able to handle more than one project at a time and accurately assess the priority of assignments
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, including lawyers in other departments, and executives and staff from other departments such as marketing, publicity, creative, business development, risk management, finance, and sales
  • Able to function independently, and work as a team player
  • Strong drafting and issue-spotting skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills

 

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Active member of California bar; will consider those eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status
  • Working knowledge of entertainment industry practices, talent agreements, legal clearance issues, and intellectual property

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $136,000.00-182,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
