Spruce Power, a leading provider of solar energy to over 53,000 customers, is seeking a Paralegal to join its legal team in the Houston office. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining corporate records, drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, managing legal and cross-functional projects, and helping Spruce attorneys with corporate, commercial, compliance, and litigation matters. The Paralegal will play a crucial role in the improvement of legal and business processes. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the U.S. legal system and a desire to be a team player in a tight-knit legal team.


The responsibilities of this position are as follows:

• Assist internal legal counsel with various operational matters, such as reviewing and drafting contracts, legal research and writing, support with transaction closings, drafting and implementing policies and procedures, preparing reports, improving and aligning legal operations.

• Assist internal legal counsel with compliance matters, such as developing and maintaining procedures for tracking and monitoring contractual, regulatory, and legislative compliance for a wide range of business activities.

• Work closely with UCC filing and asset transfer teams and title companies/escrow agents to ensure effective and efficient completion of documents related to system agreement transfers and secured interest filings ancillary to customer home sales.

• Draft, edit, review and maintain company agreements and corporate records, and assist with maintenance of insurance policies.

• Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing assistance and guidance on legal matters.

• Attend meetings, take minutes, draft memos and other correspondence.

• Perform a variety of administrative tasks and support for the legal department and Spruce attorney(s), including processing mail.

• Assist internal litigation team as needed with preparation for hearings and trials including preparation of legal memos, motions, contracts, subpoenas, exhibits, requests and responses to discovery and other legal documents as requested or required.

• Provide backup assistance to other legal team members as appropriate.

• Complete special projects and other assignments as requested.

• Other duties as needed.

• Working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing

• Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw

• Project management experience a plus


• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as paralegal studies, legal studies, or business law; paralegal certification a plus

• Minimum three years of experience as a paralegal or a legal assistant
