Position Description:
The Deputy General Counsel will report directly to IDS’ Chief Operating Officer/General Counsel and will work closely with other members of Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors, advising on key issues of interest and other legal and regulatory compliance matters for our growing company. This individual will provide both legal and business advice to support the business needs with a particular focus on government contracts and compliance with federal procurement laws and regulations. This individual will oversee the preparation and review of filings, applications, registrations, transactions, and other legal documents.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work with internal business partners to identify and evaluate business and legal risks, and develop playbooks, reference documents, presentations and other internal resources to drive efficient and compliant operations
- Assist with the development and implementation of organizational contract requirements, policies and procedures that align while maintaining best practices and protection against legal, regulatory, and liability issues
- Monitor new laws, regulations and decisions affecting the substantive legal areas and provide strategic advice to company leadership
- Develop and oversee efficient, scalable approaches for providing employment law and litigation support, through the innovative use of digital technologies and workflow improvements
- Advise on compliance matters, policy decisions, emerging risk areas, and risk mitigation strategies
- Identify, propose, and drive solutions to address risks across the business, products, services, and systems
- Assist during government audits and reviews
- Support other departments and team related projects, as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- At least five (5) years of experience as a licensed attorney either in-house or at a law firm; in-house corporate legal department experience is preferred
- Working knowledge and understanding of Government regulations to include FAR and DFAR is highly desired
- Comfortable with research and analysis of federal procurement statutes and regulations
- Strong work ethic and the highest level of integrity and business ethics
- Ability to maintain productive work relationships and work collaboratively to resolve issues
- Excellent time/project management and prioritization skills
- Ability to excel in fluid, dynamic environment
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with limited guidance
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and good work ethic
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance in reasonable period of time.
Education and Work Experience:
- This position requires a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Candidate must be a member in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Physical & Mental Qualifications:
- Must be able to sit, type, hear, see, and speak for extended periods of time.
- Must consistently work and type on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to able to communicate accurate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Must be able to lift/carry at least 15 lbs.
- May be required to move about inside an office to access file cabinets, office supplies, etc.
Security Clearance:

Travel:
- Some travel may be required.
Hours:
- Normal work schedule hours may vary, Monday through Friday. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations.
Salary Range:
- $150,000 - $195,000 per year
- The estimated salary range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job posting and may be modified in the future. The disclosed salary range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. When determining an applicant’s compensation, various factors are taken into consideration including, but not limited to: geographic location, relevant prior work experience, relevant training, special skills/competencies, education, clearance, licenses/certifications, labor categories/contract rates and other business needs.
