The Boeing Company’s Law and Global Compliance organization is seeking a Mid-Level Paralegal to join our team in Tukwila or Seattle, WA. This position will provide paralegal support to Senior Program Attorneys supporting the Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) business.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding people skills with the ability to work with a wide range of personalities and practice groups (via telephone, e-mail and in-person contact), will be a team player, have a combination of persistence and the ability to navigate through multiple layers of a complex organization like Boeing. The selected individual will also have the ability to exercise sound judgment, prior experience with a workload that includes a variety of subject matters and a desire to keep learning in an ever-changing environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys with program and site issues: draft, review, negotiate, and revise documents, including but not limited to contractual provisions, nondisclosure agreements, software and data licenses, letters, memoranda, and other written communications and agreements
Maintain and protect confidentiality, privilege, sensitivity, and/or security of all oral and written communications and apply legends and use encryption for that purpose when needed
Assist with the analysis and submission of written responses to Freedom of Information ACT (FOIA) requests received by programs under the Boeing MS&B group
Assist the Boeing Intellectual Property (BIP) attorney assigned to the MS&B group with IP related matters
Perform research of law, cases, and procedures utilizing specialized software (e.g., Lexis Advance, CourtLink, WestLaw, Pacer), the internet, and other applications
Analyze the results of research, and drafting legal memoranda assessing for attorney review
Administer and maintain Law Department projects, policies, procedures, and practices
Provide support to onsite and offsite attorneys
Maintain legal (case) management systems: create, maintain, and manage databases; maintain direct contact with legal staff (onsite and offsite)
Propose possible solutions and courses of action to responsible attorney(s) as necessary
Communicate legal advice given by attorneys and develop and maintain document retention activities
Support attorney work product via word processing, preparation of PowerPoint presentations, and project-status reporting (Excel, Passport Legal Matter Management, other applications)
Organize, track, and maintain files with attention to sensitive information and time constraints
Work independently to resolve problems and confer with attorneys on final solutions or next step processes
Lead team or department-oriented tasks, projects, and activities as needed
Communicate with military and international customers and counsel
Local travel may be required from time to time
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. Minimum of 3 days in office.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
1+ years of experience in Government Contracts
3+ years of experience in either a law firm, corporate in-house counsel, or government legal setting
3+ years of experience drafting, reviewing and revising contracts, such as purchase agreements, software licenses, supply agreements, services agreements, non-disclosure agreements or memorandums of understanding
5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s or paralegal degree from an accredited university
Military experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Cooperative, positive, team-oriented attitude
Proficient with SharePoint set-up, WebEx set up and records management systems
Experience handling and safeguarding of proprietary and confidential information also preferred with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).
Relocation:
