Marketing Counsel (6 month contract)

Legal.io is working with an established tech company based in Oakland to bring a Marketing Counsel for a 6 month engagement. This is a hybrid role with a need for someone to be in office in downtown Oakland, CA 3 days a week.

You will work closely with the Legal & Compliance team members and cross-functional teams across the organization. The role requires a self-motivated and highly collaborative individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

• Primarily focus on regulatory counseling on legal issues related to marketing and other related communications, including but not limited to email communications, digital advertisements, editorial content, and landing pages.
• Provide legal assistance and counsel on upcoming marketing campaigns and editorial materials before publication (this includes providing legal insight and research on customer-facing marketing assets and internal marketing strategies).
• Collaborate with legal team members on specific internal legal education and training materials and build the knowledge base around items that cross multiple lines of business.

Minimum Base Requirements

• 4-6 years experience as an attorney, including 2+ years of direct legal experience working with marketing, customer-facing materials
• Experience counseling and collaborating with business stakeholders
• JD from law school and excellent academic credentials
• Member of the State Bar or in-house certified

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Team-oriented with the ability to work proactively and collaboratively
• Experience advising Fintech companies

• Hours: 40 Hours / Week
• Pay Rate: $70 - $85 / hour ($140,000 - $170,000 annualized)
