This is WalletConnect’s first inhouse legal hire and will be the principal legal advisor to the organization playing a key role in developing and executing comprehensive legal strategies. You will partner with all our functions to advise on legal matters in relation to blockchain technology and networks, our product offering and the evolving regulatory landscape in addition to commercial contracts, corporate events and employment matters.

We move fast and so you’ll need a pragmatic approach to solving complex problems quickly by leveraging external counsel but also by being very hands on and in the detail.

**Responsibilities

**

• Design and implement appropriate corporate structuring for WalletConnect and the WalletConnect Protocol in conjunction with external counsel and accountants
• Plan and implement nimble and practical regulatory and compliance strategies for our rapidly evolving product offering including network decentralization and all developer SDKs
• Partner with leadership and external counsel on corporate events and employment matters
• Work with marketing and product to ensure external communications and marketing materials are in compliance with legal requirements
• Draft and implement internal and external legal and compliance policies and ship reusable frameworks and templates for navigating complex issues
• Drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts on behalf of the Company and build strong relationships with key commercial stakeholders
• Partner with Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Product and Engineering teams to stay one-step ahead of our roadmap and ensure we can continue to grow at fast pace in a compliant manner

**Requirements

**

• 7+ years experience including at least 1 year in a fast growth start-up environment and experience with crypto / blockchain technology or similar complex infrastructure such as B2B fintech
• Strong business and solution oriented attitude with a track record of partnership and performance in challenging situations
• Exceptional judgment and range to be able to adapt and learn across a broad range of legal topics including being able to operate in a global organization (ideally both US and European experience)
• Understanding of data and privacy regimes
• Self-directed and highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in managing external counsel including managing legal budget
