**Legal Assistant/Paralegal – Education/Experience


  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or Paralegal in a law firm or legal department.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Legal Studies or a related field, or Paralegal certificate from an accredited program. Highly desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal software (Westlaw, Clio).
  • Familiar with court rules, filing procedures, and legal formats.
  • Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.
  • Strong, self-starting ability, willing to take initiative, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-moving practice with a great deal of independence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

**Legal Assistant/Paralegal – Position Overview


  • Assist multiple attorneys and clients in a variety of litigation-based matters.
  • Prepare and proofread legal documents, such as contracts, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, affidavits, and letters.
  • File and organize legal documents electronically and physically, according to the firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, hearings, depositions, and other events for attorneys and clients.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, witnesses, experts, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
  • Conduct legal research using online databases and libraries.
  • Maintain and update case files, calendars, docket sheets, and billing records.
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by attorneys or supervisors.
