DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented and experienced attorney to support Amazon’s Books, Devices, and Digital Services businesses. Lawyers at Amazon are trusted members of the business. Our work is intellectually challenging, exciting, and fast-paced. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily work.

You will serve as the primary lawyer responsible for counseling the businesses on a broad range of legal areas including physical and digital consumer products and services, privacy and regulatory matters, and product launches. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating complex, high value agreements, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. Some travel, both domestic and international, will be required.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

You will be part of the broader legal team that supports Amazon’s Books, Devices, and Digital Services businesses across the US and in many other geographies worldwide.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, ideally with some part of that supporting technology and e-commerce businesses.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding legal and business judgment; strong organizational, project management, drafting, negotiation, analytical, management, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results.
  • High degree of independence, initiative, decisiveness, and creative thinking, as well as a desire to be challenged.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to be a partner to business stakeholders.
  • In-house experience at a technology company.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
