**What do we need?
** As the General Counsel, this position responsible for ensuring that Aspirion operates within the law at all times while carrying out our vision and business strategy. This position will offer counsel on legal issues, create an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies development. The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure. Beyond representing Aspirion in litigation, the general counsel will serve as our primary advisor on all legal matters, guiding company policy to reflect legislative changes and statutory compliance.
**What will you provide?
**
- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management, Executive Team and Board of Directors as appropriate
- Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
- Provide expert, strategic legal advice to our Sales, Client Success and Business Development teams
- Assess company decisions with an eye toward expanding legal rights and mitigating risk
- Represent Aspirion in legal matters and complex matters related to the law, such as public relations, client contracting and ongoing regulatory compliance
- Support broader Client Contracting efforts around legal matters and contract review. Assist in ongoing evolution of internal contract management database solution
- Manage Aspirion’s intellectual properties and statutory filings
- Update Aspirion on pertinent legislative and regulatory changes Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action
- Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically, while addressing with proactive solutions
- Base decision-making process on ethics and integrity
- Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
- Deal with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
- Attract, develop, direct, motivate and drive performance of the legal team
- Draft agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights
- Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and business related areas
- Keep abreast of legislative changes
**Requirements
**
- Proven general counseling experience in business environment, healthcare and/or Rev Cycle preferred
- Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations
- Broad legal knowledge in support of Mergers and Acquisitions activity
- Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
- Well-versed in how business operate with financial acumen
- High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills
- First class interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to “see around the corner”
- Strong attention to detail with ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects, work to tight timeframes and achieve exceptional outcomes
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced evolving work environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
- Proven ability to use a consultative approach and persuasive communication with stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize initiatives based on the evolving financial needs of the company, making consistently strategic recommendations to company leadership
- Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, including dealing effectively with issues that do not always have a process, system, or solution in place
- Demonstrate alignment to our company's values, along with the capability to hire, lead, develop, and motivate a team
- Highly developed oral and written interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict management skills and the ability to work effectively with other people

**Education And Experience
**
- BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree
- MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an asset
- Proven experience as a general counsel or in a comparable legal role, preferably in healthcare or revenue cycle related companies
- Demonstrable professionalism, ethics, and integrity
- A knack for anticipating legal issues and potential risk
- Keen understanding of the financial management of a corporate department
- Highly knowledgeable about how businesses operate

The US base pay range for this position starts at $155,000.00 annually. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, education, training, licensure or certifications obtained. Market, location and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, a performance bonus is included that is tied to achieved results.
