Job Summary
Provides legal advice and represents the Dominion companies. Litigates cases. Drafts, reviews and negotiates legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, service agreements, and other documents with legal implications. Counsels and advises clients on legal and regulatory matters, and develops strategies within overall business plan context. Monitors state and federal legislative and regulatory actions, court decisions, and company business practices, and advises clients concerning relevant developments. Provides clients with a legal and risk analysis, and recommended course of action. May manage paraprofessionals. May train or supervise less-experienced lawyers. May direct, monitor, and coordinate outside counsel and internal resources who provide legal services. This could include responding to interrogatories, hiring outside experts, coordinating company experts, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial, or overall responsibility for developing strategy for trial or settlement. Is employed in a particular practice group within the Law Department, staffed with lawyers who have expertise associated with the group. May deliver legal services which differ from a Senior Counsel in another group. May report to a Managing Counsel, or to a Deputy General Counsel.
