About the role

Roku is looking for a Director of Government Affairs to join our public policy team. This position will help coordinate our nationwide advocacy efforts to encourage the development of policies that expand and protect video streaming and our other business lines. This is an amazing opportunity to play a key, hands-on role in supporting Roku's continued growth by ensuring that the company's business and policy priorities are well represented at the national, state, and local levels.

This position in based in Washington, DC and reports to the Vice President of Global Public Policy, also based in Washington.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with legislators and Congressional staff, Executive Branch and agency officials, and key state policymakers
  • Driving and coordinating external advocacy efforts in support of Roku's strategic business objectives
  • Identifying and analyzing legislative and regulatory opportunities and risks and developing strategies to help Roku navigate Federal and state policy debates.
  • Counseling and advising business partners about government-led initiatives that could impact Roku’s growth and innovation
  • Helping to oversee external lobbyists and outside consultants who aid Roku in advocating for favorable policies related to video streaming and other issues critical to our success
  • Facilitating collaborative alliances between Roku and key partners, including policymakers, industry associations, and coalition partners

We're excited if you have

  • Experience as a skilled leader, critical thinker, and persuasive advocate
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in both government and business
  • A passion for promoting good public policy and healthy competition in the video streaming industry
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proven ability to operate self-sufficiently, with limited oversight; independent & critical thinking skills; and authentic leadership
  • Record of ethical decision making and counseling
  • An ability to transcend politics and drive public policy solutions that benefit everyone
  • Ready to hit the ground running!
