If so, Microsoft Corporation has an immediate opening for a dynamic, highly motivated corporate counsel to join the team supporting the Microsoft Advertising organization within the Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) Product and Sales Business team.
Microsoft Advertising is responsible for selling search advertising through the Microsoft Bing platform and identifying and realizing opportunities to drive display and native advertising and additional post-sale monetization across Microsoft's consumer products.

Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary legal contact for the Microsoft Advertising business supporting product development, regulatory advocacy and compliance, sales, business planning, and broader CELA groups in ongoing legal compliance matters.
- Serves as a key partner and valued legal advisor to clients and colleagues by providing actionable advice on a wide range of high-impact, complex and developing legal and business issues related to Ad-Tech, including domestic and international data privacy, digital and consumer safety, platform liability laws, such as the GDPR, CCPA, or the DSA, and the sale, distribution, licensing or marketing of search, display and native advertising services or content.
- Develops and implements processes, templates and best practices and shares knowledge across the advertising business and the broader CELA community.
- Identifies and anticipates legal and other risks (e.g., privacy, regulatory, reputational, etc.) in client's business, technology, and/or public policy, and develops creative solutions and alternatives to mitigate future risk.
- Drafts and consults on transactional documents, including standard advertising agreements and Ad-Tech partnerships involving data processing, sales, distribution, licensing, or the marketing of search, display and native advertising services or content.
- Collaborates with CELA and business clients, across internal groups, to help analyze and simplify complex/multi-dimensional legal and regulatory issues and implement resulting business and legal strategies.
- Proactively partners across internal groups to develop and advocate policies and best practices related to legal and regulatory issues; fosters communication, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices; proactively investigates and identifies tools and processes in use across the company; manages project work expenses according to budget and proposes efficiencies.
- Develops positive relationships with external legal professionals, customers, or partners in an effort to protect and advocate Microsoft's interests; coordinates with government affairs professionals to obtain alignment in policy strategy for public entities.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree
- OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.
- Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
- 3+ years experience as a practicing attorney supporting technology
- OR equivalent practice of law.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Ad-Tech platforms is a plus.
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, writing, and oral communication skills, as well as a strong record of effective cross-group collaboration in a diverse and matrixed environment.
- Sound and practical business judgment, an ability to think strategically and a desire to establish a “trusted advisor” relationship with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, prioritize workflow, and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations in a fast-paced environment and across geographies and inter-departmental teams.
- Experience supporting product engineering or sales organizations and drafting and negotiating a broad variety of complex transactional agreements
Legal Counsel IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
