This in-house counsel position among the legal department of one of the country’s most respected healthcare companies allows for either a full-time or part-time schedule, with the added benefit of WFH or remote work on a hybrid basis. Design the schedule that works best for you while continuing to practice sophisticated healthcare law within a supportive in-house team.

This in-house lawyer position is a long-term (i.e. one year) contract engagement (as a benefits-eligible Latitude W2 employee), involving negotiating and drafting Managed Care contracts, analyzing payor policies and compliance with Managed Care agreements, reviewing Managed Care agreements for fraud, abuse and anti-trust issues, supervising and working with outside legal counsel on pre-litigation disputes related to Managed Care contracts, and providing regulatory research and review of relevant state and federal laws.

Basic Requirements for the Managed Care Attorney:

  • 5+ years of experience practicing healthcare law in a full-service or boutique healthcare law firm (AmLaw 200 experience highly preferred)
  • Prior experience negotiating, drafting, reviewing and/or editing Managed Care agreements
  • Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee (or eligible for in-house exemption)
  • Outstanding professional references

  • Type of role: Contract In-House Counsel

Compensation:

  • Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $160,000 to $200,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate's preference (each candidate's pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate's competitiveness for the position).
  • Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
