Compensation:

$145,000.00

Position Details:

The Corporate Counsel role will support the General Counsel – North America, and will lead on litigation matters for US Healthcare and US Life Sciences, and work collaboratively with Group Legal and Chief Legal Officer on a variety of legal matters across the US and internationally.

As Corporate Counsel (US), you will serve an integral role in building the US legal function of Acacium Group, and enable the business for success in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Will be oversight and management of all litigation matters, including fact evaluation and discovery, development of case strategy, identifying and managing outside counsel, and proactive work with business partners to evaluate and advise on potential disputes.
  • You will also assist the General Counsel (North America) with general legal support and advice, and serve as primary legal partner for one or more US brands, and the Group Legal Team for various strategic projects.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in employment litigation and counselling.

Litigation:

  • Evaluating facts and conducting internal discovery
  • Assessing and communicating on potential outcomes to key stakeholders
  • Advise on and respond to potential disputes
  • Identify and actively manage outside counsel
  • Oversee and participate in all litigation matters
  • Develop and report on key performance indicators regarding the Group’s risk profile and claims experience across the US

Employment Counseling:

  • Counsel and advise on a variety of labor and employment issues impacting our businesses across the US
  • Draft employment agreements, handbooks, and related employment policies
  • Research and analyze relevant labor and employment laws, including wage & hour, pay transparency and pay equity, background checks, and AI
  • Partner with Human Resources to assess and manage employment-related issues

  • Providing expert and strategic legal advice to US and global management
  • Ensuring the US business receives the advice it requires in order for it to comply with relevant legal requirements
  • Assisting with the group insurance programme, particularly in the United States
  • Horizon scanning for new and developing litigation and case law relevant to the business
  • Developing legal policies and processes for the business including training where appropriate
  • Develop close working relationships with US businesses and become a trusted advisor
  • Work closely with our UK-based Group Legal Team, including attendance at team meetings and other related matters

The Corporate Counsel (US) will:

  • Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action
  • Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically
  • Identify proactive solutions to eliminate or mitigate risks
  • Support a strong culture based on ethics and integrity
  • Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
  • Deal with external parties (regulators, external counsel, shareholders, clients, suppliers and advisers)
  • Draft agreements that minimise risks and maximise legal rights and protections
  • Ensure the business meets legal requirements
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
  • Keep abreast of and share relevant legislative changes
