Job Description
Ben Hall Law is a small but growing law firm and is seeking to add an entry-level Attorney to the staff within the next six months (sooner the better, though). Currently, there are two attorneys, two assistants, and a handful of law school interns that assist in providing aggressive, unique, and high-quality legal defense. We are looking to add 3-4 additional attorneys over the next few years. Ben Hall Law practices nearly exclusively criminal defense. You will represent clients in legal proceedings, draft legal documents, and advise clients on cases. You will also support other attorneys with researching legal issues and drafting motions and briefs. You will have a significant role in every case and you will get trial experience early in your career.
For an exceptionally qualified candidate, those awaiting bar results and admission to the bar will be considered and hired at a reduced temporary salary.
This is an at-will position. There is a 6-month probationary period where you and the firm are learning about each other and determining whether it is a good fit.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court
- Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients
- Advise clients on legal issues
- Negotiate resolutions in favor of the client
- Comply with all legal standards and regulations
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
Requirements:
- Member in good standing of the Michigan bar (or able to become a member)
- Willingness and eagerness to learn
- Willing to try outside-the-box approaches to representing clients
- You must meet the minimum hourly billing requirement
- Excellent research and writing skills
Benefits:
- Generous time off
- No insurance or retirement benefits yet, but these plan to be added in the next 12 months
- Salary range $85,000-110,000 depending upon qualifications
- Eligible for bonuses including performance and origination bonuses
