As the Legal Operations Specialist, you will be a member of the Legal Operations team, and will apply business and technical practices to the delivery of legal services. The Legal Operations team focuses on multiple core functions, and you will be assigned leadership over one or more of them depending on need and expertise. Core functions could include drafting contract reviews, contract-related correspondence, contract management tool (Ironclad) oversight, research, software management, and/or property management oversight.

You will provide process planning and solutions, financial management, software maintenance, project management, and/or technology knowledge, freeing legal professionals to focus on providing legal advice and expertise. Centered around a dynamic and innovative approach to achieving outcomes, you will contribute to the Legal team’s operations by utilizing and maintaining various technologies, generating data and financial analyses, and optimizing workflow management.

What will you do?

 

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Provide service for one or more of the core functions in the Legal Operations team role. These areas include industry recognized areas such as Business Intelligence, Financial Management, Firm and Vendor Management, Knowledge Management, Optimization, Project/Program Management, Strategy and Development, Property Management, and Contract Management. Each incumbent will focus on functions under their responsibility while also providing general support to other team members.
  • Recommend resource allocation, such as external counsel utilization, identifying and implementing process improvements and automations, and collaborating with other departments to achieve business goals. Provide project management for working groups within the Legal team’s domain.
  • May manage and implement basic systems to improve team integration, optimization, and awareness, as well as analyze attorney workflow and processes. Help identify bottlenecks and discover process improvements. Coordinate Legal team projects, working with attorneys to build timelines, using lists of activities required from Legal team members and supported Compassion neighbor groups, and identifying and tracking dependencies for each step.
  • Support attorney productivity through such things as contract management solutions, project management solutions, legal databases, knowledge management, and drafting support. May maintain internal law library and provide drafts of common documents such as letters, agreements, legal memoranda, and contract-related correspondence.
  • Provide professional development support for the Legal team, identifying attorney and team needs. May administer plans for skill development related to Legal programs both within the Legal team and the organization at large.
  • Analyze internal and external legal trends and developments, providing recommendations based on available data.

What will you bring?

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Seven years’ relevant experience.
  • End-to-end experience with contracts (including drafting) and with using a contract management tool required.
  • IT tech and SaaS contract background a plus.
  • Real estate and property management background a plus.
  • Experience supporting a legal team a plus.
  • Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above.
