Job Description

The Vice President of Legal Services at AriensCo is a pivotal role, serving as the organizational leader in coordinating comprehensive legal support throughout the company. As a key member of the Americas Leadership Team, this position will provide timely advice, counsel, and support, essential for the effective implementation of company strategies. The Vice President of Legal Services will oversee the organization's legal affairs, collaborating closely with senior and executive management teams, as well as working across various functional areas. The role's responsibilities encompass a broad range of legal matters, including but not limited to drafting and negotiating agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance, managing intellectual property, overseeing financial arrangements, and addressing employee-related legal issues.

This position supports a hybrid work location model, with the expectation that the incumbent will be present at our Brillion, WI office for one to two days per week.

The Day to Day...

  • Draft and review legal documents such as contracts, legal memoranda, and other documents as needed, ensuring that these documents follow legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to AriensCo’s executive and senior leadership, along with other departments.
  • Manage legal affairs and determine when it is appropriate to seek external legal counsel for complex legal matters.
  • Manage relationships with external legal partners and determine which external legal partners are the best fit for AriensCo.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and manage a variety of complex and high-level transactions and contracts that minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
  • Interpret legal issues and provide support in legal conflicts.
  • Lead the response to outside agency inquiries and investigations and conduct internal investigations.
  • Provide oversight and management of outside counsel relationships.
  • Develop and implement effective corporate governance and compliance policies and procedures and manage the impact of external factors.
  • Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action.
  • Ensure compliance issues are integrated into new and existing programs and initiatives.
  • Directly and/or indirectly lead teams through compliance and regulatory mitigations such as international trade, environmental/health/safety, product regulatory and data privacy.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a framework for assessing and reporting enterprise risks and the tracking implementation measures to mitigate such risks.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Stay abreast of developments in laws and regulations that affect the organization.
  • Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically.
  • Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Provide guidance on changes in legal requirements and how they affect the organization.
  • Collaborates with other departments within the organization to manage legal risks and ensure compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Qualifications...

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Current law license in good standing from any U.S. state with the ability to become licensed or practice through in-house authorization in the state of Wisconsin.
  • At least 6 years of experience with a major law firm and/or corporate legal department. Preferred ten years’ experience as a practicing litigation lawyer.
  • Broad overview experience in corporate law, litigations and intellectual property law.

  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
  • High degree of professional and ethical standards, integrity and gravitas with excellent judgement and analytical skills.
  • Ability to anticipate legal issues and risks.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with the following areas of law: securities, contracts, insurance, tax and employment.
