About the role:
In a Privacy Attorney role, you will manage legal business matters to protect the enterprise’s rights in contract negotiations, settlements, litigation and business practices. As part of a legal team with 200 attorneys and paraprofessionals, your focus will be on employment law, corporate compliance, litigation support, intellectual property, financial crime and transaction support.
What you will be doing:
- Prepare and negotiate contracts while providing legal advice and counsel to business units in areas that include software licensing, data security, privacy and regulatory matters.
- Performing legal research and analysis on commercial contracts and information technology law issues.
- Advise colleagues on legal issues relating to commercial contracts, product development and compliance.
- Manages a variety of assigned legal projects.
- Provides a variety of general corporate and commercial legal services to a number of in-house clients.
- Prepares legal drafts, opinions and various documents.
- Negotiates and drafts contracts as requested by legal management personnel.
- Renders opinions and advice regarding the interpretation of contract provisions, and other business law issues. If in litigation group performs legal research and analysis in preparation for litigation or other legal actions. Examines pertinent information, e.g., interview notes, historical precedent etc. to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting litigation.
- If in regulatory and compliance group, acts as advisor on legal issues involving government and regulatory compliance as well as legal rights, obligations and privileges.
- Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken.
- Coordinates legal matters handled by outside counsel.
- Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you will need:
- You will be a seasoned practicing Privacy Attorney (6 or more years required)
- Experience drafting information and technology services agreements, software license agreements, and general commercial contracts.
- Ability to review and evaluate multi-faceted issues and counsel business colleagues on complex legal questions relating to various business matters.
- A college degree and a Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school
- Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Advanced professional with a full understanding of at least one substantive regulatory practice area applicable to financial services companies.
