Position Overview:

Aksia is actively seeking a regulated funds lawyer to join our Legal & Compliance department. The Legal & Compliance department is responsible for overseeing the legal and regulatory affairs of Aksia, an SEC registered investment advisor with global affiliates.

This position will be based in Aksia’s Chicago office and will provide legal and compliance support to Aksia’s offices globally.

Responsibilities

• Review legal documents relating to underlying investments made by Aksia’s clients
• Assist with compliance pre- and post- trade monitoring for interval fund transactions
• Work closely with investment and operations teams to identify and resolve questions related to investments
• Coordinate with outside counsel regarding registered investment company matters
• Assist with compliance monitoring and oversight for registered investment companies
• Monitor for regulatory updates, changes and guidance related to registered investment companies and propose policy and/or procedure updates as necessary
• Assist with legal structuring of registered investment companies
• Assist with project management and oversight of outside counsel engagements
• Participate in ad hoc legal and compliance related projects, as needed

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of experience within the Investment Management group of a law firm
• Working knowledge of relevant securities rules and regulations, including but not limited to the Investment Company Act, the Investment Advisers Act, Securities Act, and Securities Exchange Act
• Experience with interval funds and/or tender offer funds a plus
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including project management
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Team player with positive attitude

• Ability to multi-task effectively
