A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Legal Counsel, you will primarily support commercial contracts pertaining to the sale and service of Siemens Energy’s portfolio of Grid Technologies products, systems, and solutions.  You will be expected to provide guidance and legal advice to business partners on innovative and practical ways to deal with contract requirements, negotiations, obligations, and risk exposures.

 

This position will be located at Siemens Energy’s office in either Orlando, Florida or Raleigh, North Carolina.  Relocation assistance is not available.  The position will primarily support Siemens Energy’s Grid Technologies business in North America but may also provide support to other Siemens Energy businesses.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

 

  • Write, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate contractual documents to achieve acceptable risk levels.
  • Support business development team in interactions with customers and vendors.
  • Write, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements, changes to existing agreements, settlement agreements, technology development agreements, cooperation agreements, and other contractual terms and conditions.
  • Prepare contractual and legal risk analysis and summaries for review and approval by management.
  • Provide legal advice related to contractual and general commercial matters.
  • Provide claims handling and litigation support for various matters, including projects in execution.
  • Provide support for legal matters outside your direct area of responsibility including corporate governance and compliance matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda.

 

What You Bring

 

  • Juris Doctorate is required. 
  • Must be currently admitted, in good standing, and actively licensed to practice law in one or more states in the United States.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate in-house position; drafting and negotiating contracts or equivalent litigation of same, preferably in an energy and construction-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have some experience with the power transmission sector.
  • Strong negotiation skills, detail oriented, able to handle multiple demands at the same time.
  • Experience with software licensing agreements is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and strong flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
  • Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of colleagues, business partners and senior executives with gravitas to convey confidence and build trust.
  • Excellent organizational and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
  • Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
