You will be charged with working with business partners to identify, create and develop scalable compliance and regulatory solutions to create a compliant user experience. This entails providing day-to-day advice to a wide range of business teams, focusing on legal analysis, developing compliance objectives and resolving potential compliance issues that arise. You will also need to actively build and foster close regulatory relationships. This role involves engagement with SoundCloud’s leadership and regulatory bodies in Germany, UK and the US. Therefore, effective communication of complex matters in English (German is a big plus) and a history of successful regulatory management, are crucial attributes. The position will be based in New York.

Experience And Background

  • Admitted to practice law in the US, with strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to online platforms
  • 4+ years of experience as a legal counsel, preferably in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department
  • Robust knowledge of online service provider regulations, data protection and relevant regulatory bodies
  • Experience interfacing with regulators and government authorities
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical business situations
  • Develop and execute comprehensive regulatory strategies aligned with business goals and timelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of regulatory compliance efforts
  • Provide regulatory guidance and support to product development teams to ensure timely implementation of regulatory requirements
  • Stay abreast of global regulatory requirements, changes, and emerging trends in online service provider regulations
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance regulatory knowledge and awareness within the company, including the internal product teams
  • New York or California bar admission in good standing or eligible to register in New York or California as in-house counsel
  • Experience in copyright laws is a plus

The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
