We own and operate a portfolio of traditional and low-carbon energy infrastructure assets that are strategically positioned to serve current and future energy needs. We are looking for a self-motivated attorney to join our legal team as Associate Counsel. This position will provide support for the Company’s legal team with respect to, among other things, HEP’s commercial activities, corporate governance oversight, financing transactions, corporate development transactions and procurement efforts. Our ideal candidate would have familiarity with corporate or commercial law and an ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position will be located in our corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas and will report to our Assistant General Counsel.

Expected Responsibilities

  • Contract Review and Drafting: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including transportation agreements, service agreements, vendor contracts, and other agreements related to midstream operations.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in managing and coordinating litigation matters, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
  • Corporate Governance: Provide legal support for corporate governance matters, including board meetings, resolutions, and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Corporate Development: Conduct legal research and due diligence to support business development initiatives, acquisitions, and investments.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations affecting the midstream oil and gas industry, assisting internal regulatory groups at HEP to ensure the company's activities remain in full compliance.
  • Training and Education: Assist in developing training materials for internal teams on legal and compliance topics relevant to the industry.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the state of Texas.
  • Currently living in the San Antonio area or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with internal and external clients and customers.
  • * Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills. 
    
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Enthusiasm for a collaborative team environment.
