Job Responsibilities
The Compliance & Data Privacy Counsel will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of HomeServe USA’s data protection and privacy framework, as well as supporting other aspects of HomeServe’s compliance program. This position will lead data privacy compliance efforts across the business, including conducting data processing impact assessments, updating internal policies, and advancing record management practices. In addition, the Compliance & Data Privacy Counsel will be responsible for drafting and maintaining Company policies, setting compliance training curricula and conducting certain training sessions, conducting internal investigations related to ethics violations.
The Compliance & Data Privacy Counsel will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Legal & Compliance, who serves as the Company’s Data Privacy Officer. The position will work closely with stakeholders across the business, particularly with the Information Security, Information Technology, Marketing, and Operations teams.
- Draft and maintain company policies relating to ethics, antibribery and corruption, gifts and entertainment, as well as data privacy and record management.
- Conduct internal investigations into reports of actual or potential violations of HomeServe’s Code of Conduct and/or Company policies.
- Plan and execute on company-wide training curricula relating to ethics, data privacy, and compliance.
- Develop and execute data privacy impact assessments across the business, as well as process to maintain and update them.
- Draft and negotiate HomeServe’s data processing agreements with vendors and business partners, where necessary.
- Advise business and legal commercial team on data privacy matters in the context of contract negotiations with third-parties and/or M&A transactions.
- Draft and revise company policies related to data privacy and record management.
- Provide education and guidance on best practice and developing trends in private litigation and regulatory enforcement actions stemming from data privacy and related laws.
- Manage internal data privacy awareness training program, which includes periodic communication campaigns and presentations to the business.
- Monitor and analyze new state or federal data privacy and related laws or regulations that may have an operational impact on the business.
- Support operational compliance with data minimization principles across the business.
- Support company response efforts and complying with any relevant reporting requirements in the event of a data incident.
- Establish excellent working relationships with all company stakeholders, with special focus on information security, information technology, and marketing.
- Drive ad hoc projects as needed at the direction of the Company’s Data Privacy Officer (Assistant General Counsel, Legal & Compliance).
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing, of any U.S. state or DC Bar (with ability to become CT Authorized House Counsel).
- CIPP/US or other privacy training or certification preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data privacy at law firm or in-house
- Prior experience at a large law firm preferred
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects with stakeholders from various departments across the company
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and foster relationships with stakeholder across the business
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and manage competing responsibilities timely
- Excellent analytical skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-first and client-minded practitioner with the ability to develop and execute on creative and operationally efficient solutions for the business
- Self-starter with a strong desire to drive the development and evolution of HomeServe’s data privacy compliance program
- Ability and desire to work independently
- Strong skills in MS word and MS excel
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in office during a Monday through Friday work week. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low in office settings.

Salary Range: $124,000 to $176,000
Annual Bonus Potential: 15%
