Summary This Counsel position will serve as in-house legal counsel to Hope Utilities, Inc., directly providing and assisting the legal team in providing legal advice and representation to all departments of Hope Gas, Inc. in West Virginia and certain other natural gas and water utilities of Hope Utilities, Inc. in multiple jurisdictions.  The position reports to the Associate General Counsel and General Counsel. Primary office in Morgantown, WV with partial remote work available.

Primary Responsibilities

·       Draft, review, and advise on all manner of vendor, gas supply, access, confidentiality and non-disclosure, and other agreements and supply chain matters ·       Counsel on real property-related matters, including condemnation actions, due diligence, right of way acquisition and disputes, easements, leases, and questions of title ·       Counsel on labor and employment matters, including employee claims and organized labor matters ·       Assist the legal team in managing outside legal counsel in varied subject areas ·       Perform special projects as requested by the legal team

Main Qualifications ·       WV bar membership (or the ability to immediately obtain) strongly preferred ·       NC, ME, MT, OH, AZ, TX, IN bar memberships a plus ·       J.D. from accredited law school and excellent academic record ·       At least five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in the utility sector ·       Real property and/or employment law experience strongly preferred ·       High level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail ·       Team player ·       Excellent analytical, legal writing, verbal communication, organizational, and research skills ·       Strong work ethic and ability to meet critical deadlines and handle multiple priorities ·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively with managers and leaders
