DC BLOX is looking to add a General Counsel position to our operations team. This role will provide legal advice and strategies to our leadership team, as well as review and write various internal legal contracts, negotiate and manage client and vendor contracts, and ensure legal compliance across all areas of our business. 

Responsibilities

• Manage DC BLOX’s outside firms to ensure proper communication between those firms.
• Audit outside firms’ scope of work to ensure there is no overlap with other firms.
• Evaluate outside firms and rebid as necessary.
• Remain informed of all the latest changes on the federal, state, city and county measures that could impact the operation of the business.
• Advise executive members on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business.
• Oversee the legal matters of the business, including acting as the business’ legal representative.
• Maintain knowledge of the company’s legal documents and operations.
• Keep a record of all legal documents and proceedings for the company.
• Facilitate filings of licensing forms and other statutory requirements.
• Oversee the customer contract process.
• Craft and review legal strategy in response to any litigation. 
• Ensure all litigation information and instruction to staff are clear and effective.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a General Counsel.
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school
• Seven or more years of relevant legal experience in telecommunications, real estate, and/or regulatory matters.
