The Office of the General Counsel’s (OGC) Legal Internship provides law students with an opportunity to build valuable legal and professional skills in research, writing, and advocacy, while learning about different areas of OGC’s work, such as civil litigation, regulatory matters, employment law, privacy law, contracts, and more.

Our OGC team is currently seeking a Part-Time Legal Intern interested in civil litigation to join our organization. The intern will primarily support OGC’s Employment Law Group but will have flexibility to support other teams in pursuit of areas of interest. Depending on applicant’s progress towards juris doctorate degree, you may assist with investigations, research, memoranda, and project work; assist attorneys in their representation of GEICO in lawsuits and before administrative agencies; and/or assist attorneys in the drafting and preparation of documentation. Timing of internship is flexible based on progress towards juris doctorate degree.

Responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Assisting in research for legal briefs, position statements, and other advice matters
  • Assisting attorneys with investigations in preparation for mediations and lawsuits
  • Assisting attorneys with drafting pleading documents, discovery responses, and other legal correspondence
  • Assisting attorneys with document review and legal records management

Candidate Qualifications :

  • Must possess or be actively pursuing a juris doctorate degree
  • Enrollment in or completion of coursework in Employment Law preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication

Intern will work on-site in our Chevy Chase, MD office. This internship is seasonal and the position is not available on a permanent basis.
