Sabre’s Legal Department is a dynamic group responsible for providing legal advice to and assisting the Company in conducting business ethically and in compliance with laws around the world. Sabre is seeking a skilled and motivated licensed attorney to join our legal team as Counsel – Data and Technology. The successful applicant should have experience drafting and negotiating technology agreements (including SaaS agreements) and a familiarity with issues regarding data usage. IP experience (including trademark and patent experience) and experience regarding recent developments in AI / ML is preferred. The position will report to Sabre’s VP – Airline IT, Product, and IP. This role will work directly with our business leadership in the product, procurement, and sales teams on strategic initiatives to deliver corporate and client-facing technology solutions. This position will also include providing ad hoc assistance on special projects as they arise. We are looking for an individual who can work autonomously with limited legal supervision, and collaboratively with stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate business-to-business technology agreements (including SaaS agreements) for the procurement team.
  • Evaluate requests from the product team regarding potential data use cases and use of AI / ML tools.
  • Work with IP paralegal and outside IP counsel to manage Sabre’s trademark and patent portfolio and advise on related issues.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries to include identification, analysis and evaluation of risks in order to provide appropriate legal solutions.
  • Work closely with other lawyers throughout Sabre and coordinate legal matters handled internally and by outside lawyers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

Must Have Skills:

  • Legal degree from an accredited institution.
  • Admission to the bar in Texas, New York, or California (others will be considered) and minimum of four (4) years of legal experience, preferably in a combination of large law firm and in-house environments.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating technology and commercial agreements and analyzing issues related to data usage rights and restrictions.
  • Strong executive presence and commercial savvy, and the ability to quickly gain the confidence of business clients.
  • Maturity and strong leadership skills with the capacity to provide direction and to communicate to a variety of stakeholders, including those with and without technical backgrounds.
  • Practical and creative problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and prioritize work as needed to meet business needs.
  • A high level of self-motivation and commitment to client service.
  • Responsive to the needs and questions from internal business clients.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required.

Nice To Have Skills

  • Experience with one or more of the following preferred: AI / ML developments, trademark and/or patent prosecution and maintenance, IT security standards, and privacy regulations.
  • Travel (or travel technology) industry experience, whether in-house or via client work, is a plus but not required.
