Compliance Team at Brex
The Compliance team helps Brex grow sustainably, advocating for Brex and for the thousands of growing businesses we serve. We own the compliance policies for Brex, provide strategic advice and guidance to all Brex teams, protect Brex from Financial Crime, regulatory, reputational, and other compliance risks, and represent the company externally on key regulatory and policy issues. What You’ll Do
The Chief Compliance Officer will manage and oversee the entire Brex compliance program. Being the ultimate Compliance point of contact with Regulators and Bank Partners. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this person will build on Brex’s culture of compliance and ensure enterprise-wide compliance with corporate policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire Brex compliance program including the BSA/AML program, Broker-Dealer compliance, corporate policies and procedures, testing and monitoring, product compliance, and new areas to be created as the company grows
- Ensure that appropriate product and organizational risk assessments are performed, and communicate risks and proposed solutions to partners throughout Brex
- Ensure a metrics-based approach to decision-making with crisp, clear goals
- Build on Brex’s culture of compliance and ensure enterprise-wide compliance with corporate policies through training and oversight
- Inspire team with enthusiastic and thoughtful leadership
- Periodically report to the leadership team and Board of Directors on key compliance and risk metrics
- Partner with the Legal team on all components of corporate and product counseling
- Work closely with key fraud and credit risk leaders to maintain an enterprise risk framework; co-lead Risk Governance Committee
- Collaborate with CISO and other security personnel to ensure compliance with best practices on privacy and data security
- Liaise with regulators and financial partners on compliance matters
Requirements
- 12+ years of relevant experience in some combination of the following: banks, broker-dealers, government regulators, or SROs
- Fintech experience is strongly preferred, and significant prior leadership experience is required
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and best practices for diversified financial services companies including key areas such as cards, traditional banking, payments, AML, broker-dealers, ethics, and privacy
- Demonstrated experience building high-functioning teams, especially in hypergrowth environments
- Strong operational abilities with an eye for optimizing and improving procedures
- Ability to operate at all levels and work cross-functionally with ease
- Exceptional communication skills, from novice to expert audiences and explanatory to advocacy circumstances
- Exceptional judgment and integrity
