The DIRECTV Content Legal Team is seeking an experienced paralegal (must have in-house or law firm experience) to become a part of the fast-paced, rapidly changing environment of content acquisition and distribution for DIRECTV.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Conduct complex legal research and analysis, and investigate contract issues.
  • Draft legal documents in conjunction with the content attorneys supporting the content business team.
  • Interact with internal DIRECTV clients and outside counsel independently to both gather information and resolve legally significant matters on behalf of the company.
  • Support content deals across the entire deal cycle, including redlining, tracking, and filing transaction documents in databases, creating execution versions of agreements, assisting with closings and processing completed agreements, including ensuring signatures, dates, and exhibits are correct and complete.
  • Draft ordinary course notices (certifications, audit requests, force majeure notices, etc.).
  • Work independently to determine methods and procedures to resolve issues that arise within day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Proofread agreements (e.g., section references, defined terms).
  • Prepare first drafts of form agreements and incorporate minor or prescribed edits.
  • Quickly and accurately run redlines.
  • Support requests from other teams (e.g., marketing, supplier payments, compliance).
  • Responsible for maintaining the latest contract templates and form exhibits (affiliation agreement, retransmission agreement, exhibits (e.g., tech specs)).
  • Assist with other basic document review, comparison, and editing under attorney supervision.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • ABA recognized paralegal certificate required or JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • 2 years minimum recent legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in related field is desired.
  • Willingness to learn the content business.
  • Experience with commercial contracting. Licensing (e.g., IP) experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ability to independently and effectively manage and prioritize workload and deadlines, including a thorough understanding of business process and priorities.
  • Ability to support multiple internal clients concurrently; must be a strong team player.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

This position is primarily virtual, with occasional requirements to be in El Segundo, CA.

Relocation assistance is not available.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Low (N1): $87,400 - $131,100

Mid (N2): $92,000 - $138,000

High (N3): $101,200 - $151,800

Top (N4): $105,800 - $158,700
