As an assistant general counsel-corporate litigation in Progressive’s Corporate Legal organization, you’ll focus on complex commercial litigation, including consumer class actions, business litigation and complex pre-litigation matters. You’ll partner with senior leaders across the company, outside counsel, and other legal services providers to develop and execute litigation strategy and protect Progressive’s business interests.

Must-have Qualifications

 

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state; Active or Corporate license in state where working
  • Minimum 8 years of legal experience/training

Preferred Skills

 

  • Expertise in complex commercial litigation, including class actions and multi-party/multi-district litigation
  • Significant experience representing defendant corporations, including public companies, in consumer-to-business and business-to-business litigation
  • Hands-on commercial/business litigation experience, including substantive motion practice, managing discovery and representing clients in court proceedings, settlement discussions and at mediation
  • Significant experience litigating in federal courts, with expertise in Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex legal issues to business line stakeholders
  • Advanced legal research and analysis skills and ability to apply research and analysis practically to commercial/business litigation

Compensation

 

  • $137,100 - $195,900/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 50% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
  • Participation in our restricted stock units plan

Location

 

  • Mayfield Village, Ohio is preferred
  • Frequent travel will be expected
  • Must be willing to work eastern standard business hours
