About the Role:
The Windstream Legal Department is seeking an attorney to join its team to primarily focus on property and real estate matters. This position will work in close collaboration with team members to provide legal support for Windstream's facilities group, Right-of-Way & Easement teams regarding owned and leased real property. This position will advise internal clients on legal issues involving negotiation and interpretation of agreement terms and conditions, contract disputes, and risk management. The position will report to the Director of the Commercial Contracts Team.
This position requires self-direction and ability to work with little oversight.
Assigned to the Windstream HQ location and will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days per week, with the rest of week as remote work.
What You'll Do:
Day to day commercial and real estate contract work, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating service agreements with landlords, owners, municipalities and state/federal entities. Advising internal clients on risk management and creative approaches, along with compliance with applicable laws and/or regulations. Handling of disputes with landowners, landlords and advising internal clients on how best to resolve any dispute.
Education and Qualifications:
College Degree, with solid academic performance. JD degree from an accredited college or university and good standing in at least one state bar. 1-3 years of practice experience at a law firm and/or in an in-house setting. Experience drafting contract documents considered a plus. Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a large volume of varied work.
