Posted Aug 26 Our client, a major legal database company, is actively looking for a Patent Attorney to join their team in a part-time document review position! This is fully remote, but candidates must be in the US.
This begins as a 6 month contract with an opportunity to extend or convert at any time
Hours: 15-20 hours/week
We are seeking an experienced patent litigation attorney to help develop online legal products. The attorney will create “how-to” practice notes, forms, checklists and legal analysis on a range of trademark topics. Work will include drafting new content and supplementing existing documents with guidance based on case law, statutes, regulations, custom, and personal experience.
Qualifications:
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Bar admission in at least one state
- At least five years of experience in patent litigation
- Experience practicing in federal district court and before the International Trade Commission (ITC)
- Excellent writing, legal research, and analysis skills
- Ability to complete projects by assigned deadlines
- Ability to accept feedback on writing and revise accordingly
- Organized and self-motivated
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Word (including Track Changes) and conducting online legal research
Candidates should have patent experience with at least most of the following:
- ITC 337 investigations complaints, responses, public interest statements, rules of practice including ALJ ground rules, discovery and motion practice
- Drafting pleadings and briefs for various types of proceedings/forums
- All phases of discovery including drafting discovery devices and expert reports, taking depositions, and discovery related motion practice including motions to compel and for sanctions
- Pre- and post-trial remedy motions including injunctions, motions to dismiss, summary judgment, judgment as a matter of law, and other motion types
Additional experience with the following is preferred:
- Practice before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC)
- Practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)
- Hatch Waxman litigation
- Opinion work including invalidity, infringement, and freedom to operate
- Transactional experience including patent licensing and due diligence for corporate transactions
