Summary

The Senior Counsel is a critical partner for our collaborative and growing Kendo Legal team. You will serve as a commercial generalist, with a particular focus on negotiations, contract management and corporate governance. Your scope will include the Kendo house of brands, namely: Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Fenty Hair, Fenty Fragrance, KVD Beauty, Ole Henriksen, and Lip Lab. This position will report to the Associate General Counsel.

Requirements

  • J.D. Degree from an accredited law school; member of California State Bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in drafting, counseling and negotiating commercial transactions at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department. Experience with supply chain agreements desired.
  • An excellent ability to: grasp legal and business issues quickly; balance risks; exercise sound judgment; and provide creative, practical, constructive and timely counsel in a growing, dynamic, and fast-paced business environment.
  • Positive and approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with all company contributors.
  • Ability to multi-task and appropriately manage a high-volume workflow, setting priorities with internal clients and delivering results efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with strong follow up.
  • Consumer goods and/or personal care experience desired.
  • Excellent references.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for a wide variety of business transactions including but not limited to those related to supply, distribution, service, logistics, employment, rental spaces, marketing, non-disclosure agreements, and occasional leases.
  • Support corporate governance for Kendo and its various subsidiaries and joint ventures, as needed.
  • Manage insurance program, including claims and coverage data collection.
  • Support contract management and maintenance of contract templates.
  • Support ethics & compliance related policies and education.
  • Develop policies, procedures and training, as needed.
  • Manage external legal resources.
  • Other legal responsibilities as assigned.
