Director, Business Affairs - On-Air Talent Management

Posted Sep 22 We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Director, Business Affairs – On-Air Talent to provide comprehensive support for the NFL Media On-Air Talent Department. This role will be based at the NFL’s Los Angeles campus and will support the On-Air Talent Office by, among other things, managing the Talent Contract life cycle, supporting the execution of the Talent Strategy, and acting as a key liaison for Agents/Agencies. The Director, Business Affairs – On-Air Talent will report to the Vice President of Talent Management - On-Air Talent and frequently will communicate and collaborate with other internal teams and partners.
Responsibilities
- Partner with VP, Talent Management - On-Air Talent to aid in negotiating talent contracts for new talent and renewals
- Manage Agent & Agency relationships including communicating to agents, sending agreements, and acting as first point of contact for new agents
- Support overall Talent strategy (pipeline management, contract renewal process, budget tracking, etc)
- In partnership with Counsel, review and provide strategic guidance with respect to contracts and correspondence
- Manage Talent Contract life cycle including monitoring expiration dates, option deadlines, electronic signature & approval process
- Additional tasks as assigned and directed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience working in media, sports, entertainment or a similar industry
- Proven experience in reviewing and understanding contracts and agreements.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and coordinating with various departments (e.g., legal, finance, creative, human resources).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strong negotiating skills with the ability to negotiate with outside companies and representatives to achieve favorable outcomes for the company while building and maintaining strong industry relationships
- Ability to collaborate with in-house Counsel to create and review contractual terms that address business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.
- Experience with Talent Agents/Agencies.
- Deep understanding of the sports/entertainment/media ecosystem

FSLA Exempt
NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. This position will require work in excess of 40 hours per week and availability as needed for time-sensitive matter
Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
Salary
$140,000—$180,000 USD
