Overview

The Analyst will be a key member of the Firm’s Revenue team, positioned to grow as the complexity of Outside Counsel Guidelines increases, along with the increased use of Alternative Fee Agreements and electronic billing, and internal requirements.

The role will require financial business partnering, problem solving and analytical acumen, in addition to hands-on reporting and analysis. Over time and with management support, a successful analyst will own the end-to-end cycle of data management, reporting, analysis and presentation for our revenue compliance.

The Analyst will need to utilize a variety of systems and databases to ensure that Outside Counsel Guidelines, engagement letters, alternative fee arrangements, billing instructions, and client management notes and instructions are consistent and universally known.

The role will have exposure to the senior finance management, certain business and functional leaders. The analyst will contribute to the financial functions and is positioned to grow as we expand our revenue compliance capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide revenue-reporting assistance to Firm Management, Partners, and departmental staff.
  • Utilize firm reporting tools to create custom reports as needed.
  • The Analyst will work with Department and Firm Management in the review and analysis of Associate and Partner adherence to the Firm’s time entry requirements.
  • Communications with Firm Management, Partners, Associates and Associate Development Managers.
  • Review of potential non-compliance timekeepers and determine if additional actions need to be taken.
  • Maintain all records, communications, and decisions.
  • The Analyst will work Department Management in the review, summarization and analysis of clients with Outside Counsel Guidelines, including reporting statistics and analyzing for trends.
  • Review and dissemination of guidelines to appropriate users.
  • Reporting trends and identifying clients/matters where improvements to application of guidelines could increase realization and profitability.
  • Identifying non-compliance with clients Outside Counsel Guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis team, Analyst is responsible for the review of unbilled write-offs exceeding partner threshold to ensure that reasoning is complete, metrics are accurate, and appropriate practice group approvals are obtained.

Works with Department Manager in the administration and reporting of Billing Incentives.

  • Maintains and reports on incentive period statistics including daily charts and monthly analyses to finance leadership.
  • Assists with the review of and input of requested adjustments.
  • Actively participates in firm and departmental projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • A minimum of five years experience in a professional services environment using time and billing software such as Elite, 3E, or Aderant
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior customer service and a demonstrated ability to work in challenging and dynamic environment
  • Experience creating, modifying and working with database oriented reports using software such as Microstrategy, Tableau
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, including advanced features such as pivot tables, graphs, formulas, macros
  • Self directed with a strong work ethic; capable of working independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to work outside of established business hours and adjust personal schedule to meet deadlines is required

The anticipated pay range for this role is $69,000- $103,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
