Your responsibilities
Handle regulatory and compliance matters for Uniper Global Commodities North America LLC, and its subsidiaries (the “Company”) by providing regulatory legal support and advice in the United States and CanadaDrafting of compliance policies, procedures and programsConduct internal trainings of compliance and regulatory mattersSupport with all regulatory registrations, licenses, permits, exchange approvals and related matters, including the monitoring of the sameIdentify, assess, research, and monitor current and emerging regulatory and compliance issues impacting the business, including state and federal legislation and administrative agency regulationsLiaise with regulators and clients in the United States and Canada to address regulatory queries and investigationsCoordinate with other members of the global legal team in order to support global initiatives on an as-needed basisAdvise on and monitor the Company’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;Know Your Counterparty:Perform due diligence on new trading counterparties, including requesting KYC documentation, reviewing and verifying received documentation and analyzing findingsPeriodically reassess existing trading counterparties according to the KYC policyMonitor and investigate alerts generated by KYC system on previously screened trading counterpartiesTrack KYC approvals and pending KYC assessmentsSupport Corporate Secretary with corporate governance documentation, filings, registrations, meeting minutes and other related workstreamsSupport Trade Surveillance Department with guidance on policies and procedures, monitoring, investigations, enforcement actions and reportingSupport with the selection, retention, management and evaluation of all outside regulatory compliance support, including establishing and managing project budgets Your profile
J.D degree with strong academic credentials required;Must be a member in good standing of the Bar, preference for attorneys admitted in Texas and/or New York;5 or more years of experience advising clients on regulatory compliance issues related to natural gas, experience with additional commodities (LNG, hydrogen, ammonia, etc.) would be helpful;Specific experience working independently but closely with front office personnel to ensure regulatory complianceSpecific experience with issues related to the FERC and the CFTC;Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, judgment, enthusiasm and interpersonal skills;Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment;Ability to take the lead and work independently on any responsibilities within the job description.
